Loving God and Our Neighbor

"Jesus replied, 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: LOVE your neighbor as yourself.' "
Matthew 22:37-39

Growing Roots and Bearing Fruit

"When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.  Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.  Glory to Him in the Church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen."
Ephesians 3:14-21

Serving as Christ's Body

"But among you it will be different. Whosoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve others and to give His life as a ransom for many."
Matthew 20:26-28

Soma Believes:

  • That the Bible (Old and New Testament) is the infallible, divinely inspired word of God and is the only authority of faith and Godly conduct.  (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Peter 1:23-25; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
  • There is one true and living God, the Creator of all things; All knowing, Eternal Love, the Redeemer of mankind, He has revealed Himself as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.  (John 1:1-14; John 10:30; John 14:26; 1 John 5:7)
  • Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary and is the only begotten Son of the Father. Jesus lived a sinless life, was crucified on the cross, buried in a borrowed tomb and rose from the dead.  He ascended to the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.  (Matthew 1:18-23; Hebrews 7:25-26; Acts 2:33; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4)
  • That God has created man good and free of any evil.  However, of his own choice, man transgressed the will and command of God; thereby inheriting the nature of sin which results in spiritual as well as physical death.   (Genesis 1:26-31, 3:1-7; Romans 5:12-21)
  • That man’s only hope to be redeemed is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.  Salvation is received “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”.  (Romans 10:9-10)
  • The inward witness of the Spirit and the outward witness of a holy and righteous life are the evidence of salvation.  (Romans 8:16; Ephesians 4:24; 1 John 3:23)
  • And practices the ordinance of water baptism by immersion.   Baptism symbolizes that the “born again” person has died with Christ and has been raised with Him in newness of life.  (Matthew 3:13-17; Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4)
  • And practices the ordinance of Holy Communion.  All believers are to share in this memorial until the return of our Lord.  We partake in Communion as a remembrance of Jesus Christ’s suffering and death.  (Luke 22:17-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
  • In the baptism of the Holy Ghost.  This being the normal experience of all in the early Christian Church should be experienced by all in the body of Christ today.  With the baptism in the Holy Spirit comes a deeper reverence of God, the bestowment of the gifts of the Spirit, endowment of power for life and service, as well as a greater love for the mighty things of God.  (Acts 2:1-4; Acts 2:42-43; Acts 10:44-46; Acts 19:6; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11)
  • Sanctification is the act of separating from evil, sin and the lusts of the world.  In identifying with Christ and exercising faith in His sacrificial death and resurrection the believer’s sanctification becomes a reality to him.  (1 Corinthians 1:30; Galatians 2:20; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; Hebrews 12:14; Hebrews 13:12)
  • In divine healing as provided in Christ’s atonement.  Divine healing is a part of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  (Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:16-17; James 5:14-16)
  • Jesus Christ is the head of the Church (His body) and is its source of authority and power.  Each person who has been born of the Spirit is an important part of the Church.  The Church has as its divine mission the command of our Lord Jesus Christ to take the gospel to the entire world and to make disciples of all nations. (Ephesians 1:22; Hebrews 12:23; Matthew 28:19-20)  Soma is established to evangelize the world, worship God and edify the body of saints.   (Ephesians 1:11-16; Mark 16:15-20; John 4:23-24)
  • In the pre-millennial second coming of Jesus Christ, the dead in Christ will rise first then those who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  (Acts 1:10-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 1:7)
  • Those who names are not found written in the Book of Life shall enter into everlasting punishment and torment; while the righteous enter into everlasting life and peace.  (Daniel 12:2; Matthew 25:46; John 5:29; Jude 1:7; Revelation 19:20)
